Rivet is excited to announce the beginning of our transition from the EtherCattle Initiative to its successor, Cardinal. For over two years, Rivet has provided fast, reliable Ethereum gateway service on the back of EtherCattle, an Open Source initiative to make Ethereum node infrastructure more operationally manageable. In that time we’ve learned a lot about the needs and challenges of running blockchain nodes, and we reached a point where we realized a paradigm shift was in order.
This is the first in a series of five posts about the transition from EtherCattle to Cardinal. In subsequent posts, you can read about:
- Why we decided to build Cardinal
- The general architecture of Cardinal
- PluGeth — the new Geth fork we’ve created to support Cardinal
- Our plan for rolling out Cardinal to Rivet.cloud
As always, we remain committed to open source, and hope to make Cardinal even more accessible to our open source community.
